Särö sound installation continues my ongoing critical research and experimentation within the Finnish identity relating to queerness. Translated to English, särö means distortion. I explore the distorted nature of my own Finnish identity as a nonbinary and queer artist due to the still heavy censorship of Queer history, which dates to the national romanticism era, “the golden age of art”, in Finland during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
