Leikkikenttä – Playground, is a response to the political landscape in which structural sexual violence has become highlighted and the systems that have failed to hold structures and perpetrators accountable. It is an autobiographical work of the artist’s own past of sexual violence that they experienced from the ages of one to three while living abroad. Ainis confronts the fallacy of the ‘perfect victim’, as they were a ‘perfect victim’ within the white patriarchal standard, until they needed care and accountability, and couldn’t be used only for the fiction of justified violence of the ‘other’. The work explores the desire for escapism into nature, as they could escape the violence in the Finnish countryside. The work examines the dissociation of identity due to the violence done to one’s personhood.
